Finally made it up to Jebel Hafeet today. At about 1240 meters, it dominates the skyline of Al Ain and while not the highest mountain in the UAE it is the most well known. At the base is the Green Mubazzarrah, which is a very green area with parks, hot springs and spas, plus a small lake that the springs drain into (there are also small cabins there). The road up the mountain is as impressive as you may read about and on the way to the summit where there is a large car park and cafe you pass the Grand Mercure Hotel and one of the ruling families palaces (which must be spectacular to be inside with the views).
