Well this is something you don't see everyday in Al Ain. Actually seeing planes of any type at Al Ain Airport is a little rare, but coming over the dunes and seeing a brand new A380 was a bit of a surprise! Looked empty so I am thinking it is a test plane, and I guess Al Ain is a nice quiet airport to land at. Rather impressive seeing the two rows of windows running along the side though.

I love the area around AA airport...
If you're a planespotter you'd love the Al Ain Airshow - I think it's on either every year or every two years, you'd have to look it up.
It's so amazing watching fighter jets perform all kinds of stunts literally just metres away!
Airbus has been using Al Ain to test the A380's performance under in extremely hot and dry conditions (which says something about the weather here) for about a year now, so you do occasionally see one here.
i*maginate, you are right, the air show is spectacular. It is usually every January when the weather is so nice.
Brn, I tried to look up AA Airshow on Google, which is why I didn't intially bother: the 2007 website shows up (which doesn't say much about the 2008 event).
Khali walli, whenever it is announced, I'm racing on down to your neck of the woods to witness those ferocious F16s!
On a separate note, M & K, have you considered registering your blog on the UAE Community Blog? I understand Brn is an admin there, should you require further info ;)
Not really a "plane spotter" at all, but no doubt will check out the air show when it is on.
As far as registering the blog on UAE Community Blog, I have a strange feeling I already have once or twice but I know it is listed on the blog roll.
... that should have read "but I know it isn't listed on the blog roll". I guess I must have done something incorrectly so I will try again.
Cheers
hi m&k,
Like I thought, the A380 was here for hot weather testing.
About the UAE Community blogroll, I'll dig up the password and add you to the list there. Are you members at the blog (i.e. allowed to post there?) - I can create an invitation for you there as well.
