After leaving Bab Al Shams we headed up to Ras Al Khaimah and Al Hamra Resort for 2 day stay; sort of like from desert to sea and back again. We really were a little disappointed by Ras Al Khaimah. For some reason our expectations were a little high as I have heard previously that RAK is one of the nicer smaller cities to locate yourself in the UAE. Realistically although the mountains are there, it really has nothing on Al Ain. But, it is going a transformation so give it a few years and who knows.
Al Hamra was nice and really isn't in RAK at all (well at least not in the city). The resort itself is pretty good, but the main thing it has going for it is a nice beach and views. We spent most of our time walking the beach and K and I even got involved in a bit of water sports which involved paddling around in the lagoon and then getting dragged behind a speed boat rather quickly.
The part of the break that made me laugh was it was nearly impossible to check out of the resort! Then on top of that was the fact we couldn’t get our car… it was still Eid break so was rather busy… but not that busy! S...L...O...W!
